They call it the spread of the middle-aged. It is not necessarily meant to hit at 30 – I'm a little premature – but when it does, it's time to get off the couch or out from beneath the laptop!
Some of us aren't so comfortable with gyms. Confusing equipment, repetitive routines and alpha males who can pretty much crush you with their pinkie fingers all add up to an uncomfortable morning. Adelaide has plenty of alternatives.
For seasoned athletes, The Heysen Trail is a jaunty 1200 km stroll that will take between 50-60 days, but for beginners there is the Waterfall Gully Climb that only takes a few hours and provides plenty of rock chairs along the way for you to sink into. The Heysen Trail is closed during the summer fire ban but open for intrepid explores throughout winter, spring and autumn.
The Friends of the Heysen Trail even provide group walks so that you can burn off calories in good company.

Morialta Falls are other popular destinations.
Or if you prefer the beach to the bush, you can follow the waterline from Hove to Glenelg and back again.
