This article comes with a warning: the food I'm about to describe is tantalisingly delicious and you'll want to grab your phone and make a romantic booking for two ASAP, however, this restaurant is quite costly. If you're not in the position for a little splurge then you've been warned - don't read on!
Kingsleys Steak and Crabhouse is one of my favorite restaurants in Sydney because it's gorgeous location, combined with some of the best cocktails and steaks I've ever eaten, always sends me running back for another full and satisfied tummy. I'm not a seafood eater, so you'll have to tell me how it is, but I hear it is mouth-watering.
Kingsleys is perfect for a few occasions:
1) Corporate or business functions: the perfect location and relaxed setting coupled with some tasty ( but seriously expensive alcohol) can not be beaten.
2) Romantic dinner for two: it's not a restaurant that would be your favourite Friday night dine but it is wonderful for a special date.
3) Celeb spotting: I once saw Kyle Sandilands eating there with a string of hot young things attached to his arms and that was pretty exciting no matter how unpopular he may be.
Perhaps one of the best things about Kingsleys is its casual yet chic and classy atmosphere. The ambience is warm and friendly and the staff are so doting and helpful (even explaining to uneducated me what panacotta was). The dress code follows the atmosphere, you can be dressed in heels and a dress, suit and a tie or nice jeans and a nice top - it doesn't matter. I've even been known to wear my thongs once or twice. Although I wouldn't advise turning up in your trackies and hoodies, no matter how cosy they may be.
So now that you're absolutely dying to find out what's on the menu here's what I love:
The smoked duck strips on a bed of sweet sour cream with soft sweet fig pieces and sprinkled with pomegranate seeds is surprisingly an amazing combination - $21.90

Smoked Aylesbury Duckbreast
For a main, I always go the Angus flat iron which is cooked to soft and juicy perfection, served with a side of the best (seriously, the best) crunchy onions rings and fresh, tasty chimchurri sauce - $26.90
For desert, I like to try different things but one you can't go past trying is the grappa, panacotta and churros. The grappa has a sweet winey tang, the panacotta firm but soft and not too sweet and my favourite, the churro, sprinkled with just the right about of cinnamon and cooked not too soft but not too crunchy - heaven - $13.90
The only thing is Kingsleys often change their menus, so if you have a favourite - one day it might not be there. However, trying new foods is always adventurous and fun and usually never disappoints. So hurry and pick up the phone, especially if you want to try these dishes.
