I have to give the BLT from the Nielsen Park Cafe a huge thumbs up - it is one of the best BLTs I have ever had. The bread was unmistakenly fresh, the bacon was salty, the lettuce crisp, the tomatoes sweet, and it was all perfectly bound together by a creamy, tangy mayonnaise that was just delicious. Just writing about it has me salivating at the memory.
The cafe also has a frozen raspberry slushy that will take you right back to your childhood with your very first sip - all the way back to those playful days when your biggest worry was how tall to build your sandcastle.
The other thing I love about Nielsen Park is the historic changing facilities, reminiscent of the early 1930s. These are large un-roofed enclosures overshadowed by historic Moreton Bay Figs. These buildings are so full of character and history, it's worth going to Nielsen Park just to see them and imagine what it would have been like back in the 1930's.
Adjacent to the beach is a great grassy park with Moreton Bay Fig lined boulevards, perfect for an evening stroll with friends or lovers.
