If it's raining, why not make the most of the weather with some wet-weather inspired fun?

Try these ideas to teach kids about the weather and changing seasons, and add some entertainment to you day!

1. Pretty as a picture: Tell your children about why we need the rain and where it comes from. Then, with crayons, pencils and paper set up, sit them next to a window so they can capture the view of outside in a drawing. Perfect for toddlers and older children who love art.

2. Catch the rain: Make a rain catcher with your children. You'll need scissors, a used plastic milk carton, a permanent market and ruler. Cut off the top section of the milk carton, using the ruler and marker, write measurements up the side of the carton. Place the carton outside to catch the rain. Children will love to re-check their rain catcher later in the day. (Always supervise children when using scissors).

3. Sing it: A great opportunity to sing nursery rhymes about the rain and teach your children the actions. Think: Incy Wincy Spider; Rain Rain Go Away; It's Raining, It's Pouring.
