Next time you're in the city for some late night shopping, head just off Rundle Street and check out
Summer Fridays in the East End. Market stalls and food vendors join the regular Ebenezer Place stores, giving you another reason to head into the city this Summer.
The markets kick off at around 6pm on a Friday. You'll find them on
Ebenezer Place, which is tucked behind Rundle Street and off of Union Street. Ebenezer locals, like
Treadly Bike Shop and
Midwest Trader, also have their doors open late, so there is sure to be plenty to browse through.
Fashion stalls dominate, with plenty of vintage and second hand pieces available. Pick up accessories including shoes, handbags, jewellery, and sunglasses. Some of the other bits and pieces include home decorations like framed photographs or interesting sketches, even chemistry beakers and anatomy models were on display. The stalls change from week to week, so there is no guarantee to what you might find.
One reason that the crowds flock to Summer Fridays is of course because of the food.
Burger Theory are usually there every Friday with their burgers and burritos, drawing a line before they've even opened. Others include
La Waffle, with delicious belgian waffles served with ice cream and
the Little Van that Could pouring homemade lemonade and fizzy raspberry cordial. You can also find cupcakes, lollies, and more throughout the night.
There is a great vibe at Summer Fridays, whether it's from the DJ bringing music to the markets, or the buzz of people joining the Burger Theory queue for the first time. On some nights you can catch a free film at the makeshift outdoor cinema, or just do some shopping under the stars.
Summer Fridays in the East End is just one of the many activities happening around Adelaide as part of the Adelaide City Council's
